Maria Grisel Vega has more than 40 years of experience in banking and financial services, with expertise in audit, finance, risk management, and strategic planning. She serves on the boards of City National Bank of Florida, Bci Securities Inc., and Bci Financial Holdings Group. She is also Treasurer of the Cuban Banking Study Group and the Bishop Enrique San Pedro, SJ Foundation Inc.

Grisel spent 26 years with the Bci Group, most recently serving as General Manager of the Bci Miami Branch until April 30, 2025. In that role, she led an office with approximately US$6 billion in assets and oversaw Treasury, Corporate Banking, Wealth Management, Private Banking services for Latin American clients, Risk, and Operations. Before becoming General Manager, she served as First Vice President and Controller from the branch’s opening in 1999.

Grisel began her career in the audit division of Arthur Andersen, LLP in 1983. In 1987, she joined Southeast Bank’s financial reporting division and in 1989 became Controller at Banco Exterior de Los Andes y de España (Extebandes). After nine years with Extebandes, Standard Chartered Bank acquired the institution and renamed it Banco Standard Chartered. She was appointed General Manager of its Miami Branch and later served as Regional Financial Manager and Project Manager for the bank’s Y2K initiative.

Grisel earned a BA from the University of Miami, maintained an active CPA license through 2021, completed the Senior Executive Program at IESE Business School, University of Navarra and the Women on Board of Directors continuing education program. She served for many years on the board of the Florida International Bankers Association, including as Chair in 2012.

Throughout her career, she received several honors for her contribution to her institution and to the banking community. Among those are Bci’s “Las Diez Claves del Éxito” in recognition of her leadership and commitment to the company’s culture and values and the World Trade Center Miami’s International Achievement Award for her contribution to the growth of international business in South Florida.

In 2026, she was inducted into the Cuban Bankers Hall of Fame. This honor recognizes distinguished bankers of Cuban descent for their career achievements and lasting contributions to the banking industry and the communities they have served.
