MIAMI, FL — MAY 15, 2025 — Jorge Gonzalez, Vice Chairman and CEO of City National Bank, Florida’s second-largest bank, is the newest member of the Orange Bowl Committee and the 2026 Miami Host Committee for the College Football National Championship Game.
As the second-oldest bowl game in the country, the Orange Bowl and its partners have committed more than $50 million to improving the South Florida community. The Orange Bowl Committee (OBC) is a nonprofit sports organization with the mission of generating tourism and economic impact for South Florida through an annual football game and supporting events. Its year-round activities inspire youth, engage the community, and enhance the South Florida economy.
The committee is made up of more than 400 volunteer members and a full-time staff that organizes 20-plus events annually. The OBC provides more than $3.5 million annually in funding, grants, and scholarships to more than 16,000 South Florida children through its youth sports and various academic programs.
“I’m thrilled to be serving on the Orange Bowl Committee, one of the nation’s most iconic sporting events and to be part of the 2026 Miami Host Committee for the National Championship Game, which is bringing the most prestigious game in college sports to Miami,” City National Bank Vice Chairman and CEO Jorge Gonzalez said. “City National Bank and the Orange Bowl are pillars of our community, and the Committee’s mission aligns closely with CNB’s commitment to supporting the communities we serve.”
Since its inception in 2015, the National Championship Game has been played in or awarded to 10 different communities, selected through a highly competitive bid process. When the game returns to Miami in 2026, it will be the city’s 22nd National Championship. In addition to sustaining Miami’s role in postseason college football, the 2026 College Football Playoff National Championship will generate hundreds of millions of dollars in economic impact for the region. A series of events and interactive experiences have been developed leading up to the game to amplify exposure for the community.
All told, CNB supports more than 200 nonprofits and community organizations throughout Florida each year. These include the University of Miami and Miami Hurricanes Athletics, United Way, Institute of Contemporary Art Miami, Branches, Niklaus Children’s Hospital, and more.
