Florida’s second-largest bank hires new executive to lead commercial banking
MIAMI, FL – MAY 21, 2025 – City National Bank (CNB) is strengthening its commercial banking division with the addition of a new executive and four experienced bankers who will serve clients across Florida. The new commercial banking hires, who arrive at CNB from Truist, are part of a broader expansion initiative. CNB, with $27 billion in assets and more than 1,000 employees statewide, is setting out to grow the size of its team by 20 percent over the next 12-18 months.
CNB’s commercial banking division provides personalized service to businesses with annual revenues up to $10 million, as well as to the executives and entrepreneurs who lead them. The team offers a full suite of customized products and services, including commercial loans, lines of credit, and treasury management solutions.

CNB’s new commercial banking team members are:
- Brian San Miguel, Managing Senior Vice President & Commercial Banking Executive – San Miguel, who will head commercial banking at CNB, previously served as Market President for Truist in Miami for the past 8 years, overseeing $3.5 billion in total assets and more than 30 branches. San Miguel directly managed the commercial banking team with 10 commercial bankers that delivered comprehensive banking solutions including treasury, merchant, wealth management, mortgage lending, and insurance services.
- Christian Toledo, Senior Vice President – Toledo brings more than 25 years of experience in commercial and consumer financial services, specializing in relationship management, business development and risk mitigation.
- Carlos Doreste, Senior Vice President – Doreste is a seasoned banking professional with more than two decades of experience in commercial banking, specializing in relationship management, client acquisition, and credit underwriting. He has a track record of driving business growth, structuring complex credit facilities, and leading high performing teams.
- Frank Amador, Senior Vice President – With a background driving sales growth and expanding client relationships, Amador brings vast experience managing portfolios for businesses ranging from $3 million to $250 million in annual revenue.
- Joaquin Hernandez, Senior Vice President – Hernandez brings more than a decade of experience in commercial banking, driving significant revenue growth, managing large client portfolios, and advising C-suite executives.
